The area is perfect for walking and enjoying a range of country pursuits, (see my links page)including bird-watching (the red kite has been seen from the cottage and RSPB reserves are within an easy drive) , coarse and game fishing (fishing in kite country guide), climbing, cycling (the Taff cycle trail is but a few miles away), mountain boarding or just relaxing in glorious scenery. Nearby are sailing, caving and pony trekking facilities. Hay on Wye, the second hand book capital of the world, is 30 minutes drive.
Brecon is a historic market town with many attractions including the South Wales Borderers military museum with exhibits of the Zulu war, a fine modern theatre, a leisure centre with a swimming pool, and two golf courses. The Jazz Festival in mid-August attracts visitors from through out the world. Further afield but still an easy day out, are the beaches of the Gower peninsula.
